Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014) explores the life of Jesse and his friends after they discover a box full of magical tools and mysterious video tapes, through which they uncover the existence of demonic forces controlling families for generations. The events develop with the emergence of supernatural abilities in Jesse, and strange phenomena that fill the house with constant tension and horror. As they try to understand the phenomena and confront the danger, they discover a complex network of witch rituals and ancient groups whose goal is to control the firstborn to produce a generation of possessed youth. The film focuses on the effect of dark forces on the mind and behavior, and the psychological conflict between the characters, with continuous tension and suspense scenes, connecting the events to the dark past of Katie’s family, while maintaining the ambiguity of the ending and the constant sense of horror.
