The film tells the story of the 15th anniversary of the Woodsboro murders, as horror returns with the emergence of a killer wearing a Ghostface mask who begins a series of crimes that shake the city. Sidney Prescott arrives to promote her book, but finds herself involved in the investigation after being indirectly accused. As attacks increase and new victims fall, Dewey and Gale work together to uncover the truth, while evidence suggests the crimes are re-enacting horror movies. As events escalate inside a large party, the identity of the real killer is revealed, and it becomes clear that the motive behind everything was fame, jealousy, and an attempt to create a new story at the expense of blood. In the end, Sidney succeeds in stopping him and ending the nightmare.
